West Suffolk Hospital was awarded NHS Foundation Trust status on Thursday 1 December 2011.

David Ruffley MP said: 'I wish to congratulate West Suffolk Hospital Trust ('WSHT') for being awarded Foundation Hospital Trust status.

David Ruffley MP will be discussing policing issues in Suffolk with Simon Ash, Suffolk Constabulary Chief Constable, County Councillor Joanna Spicer, Chairman of Suffolk Police Authority, and Dr Daniel Poulter, MP at Martlesham Heath Police HQ.

Among general issues relating to police pensions, rural policing and crime levels David Ruffley MP will be putting the following questions to the Chief Constable:

What is Suffolk Constabulary's overtime bill compared with the national average?

David Ruffley MP will be laying a wreath in honour of Britain's fallen heroes at the Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade on Sunday 13 November, commencing at the Athenaeum in Bury St Edmunds at 10.10am as well as attending the Festival of Remembrance at the Regal Theatre in Stowmarket on Saturday 12 November at 7.30pm.

David Ruffley MP will be attending a 'send off' of the harvester machine representing the UK sugar beet industry on its way to Lord Mayor of London's Show. This is at the Bury St Edmunds sugar factory on Friday 11 November at 12noon.

David Ruffley said:- 'I am delighted to be able to switch on the Christmas lights with Councillor Christopher Spicer, Mayor of St Edmundsbury, and Santa Claus this year in Bury St Edmunds.

I am very pleased to be switching the lights on for the first time in my fourteen year tenure as Member of Parliament for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket. I am even more pleased that the ceremony is set to be the most exciting yet with market stalls, live music, fairground attractions and late night shopping .

David Ruffley MP will be presenting equipment provided by the Tesco for Schools & Clubs voucher scheme at Tesco Bury St Edmunds at 10am, and at Tesco Stowmarket at 11.30am on Friday 18 November.

David Ruffley said:- 'I am very pleased that I am able to present this equipment in both the towns within my constituency.The presentation is the culmination of the acts of thoughtfulness as residents collect vouchers for their local schools and the commitment of Tesco to invest back into the community.

David Ruffley MP will be visiting St Nicholas Hospice, Bury St Edmunds on Friday 18 November at 2pm.

David Ruffley said:- ' I will be visiting the Hospice to see the palliative services provided for end of life care and to meet with staff to hear about the latest developments. I will be meeting Alastair Robinson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Barbara Gale, Chief Executive, before touring the Hospice's facilities.

David Ruffley said: 'Plans to transfer ownership of the popular Victory Sports Ground in Bury St Edmunds from St Edmundsbury Borough Council to the local community could be a practical example of the Big Society.

David Ruffley MP will be visiting Gislingham Primary School on Friday 4th November 2011 at 11am to attend a Question and Answer session from its pupils about his role as the Member of Parliament for Bury St Edmunds. The visit takes place during Parliament Week, a new week-long initiative between 31st October and 6th November.
