David Ruffley MP will be the special guest a the Bury Bamako Exchange photographic exhibit 'Your Place & Our Place' at The Edmund Gallery, Bury St Edmunds on Friday 3 February at 6.45pm.

David Ruffley MP said: 'I am greatly looking foward to seeing the photographic exchange between schoolchildren here in Bury St Edmunds, and Bamako, Mali.

David Ruffley MP will be celebrating Chinese New Year with his constituents at the Canton Chinese Restaurant, Bury St Edmunds on Friday 3 February at 12.30pm.

David Ruffley MP said: 'I am delighted to be celebrating the Chinese New Year with my constituents and Councillor Patrick Chung. 2012 looks set to be a great year for Bury St Edmunds as we will soon host the Olympic Flame which is excellent news as the year of the Dragon is meant to be the most auspicious in the Chinese calendar.

David Ruffley MP said: 'I am very pleased to be visiting Wattisham and finding out more about the fantastic work our forces do.

I will be meeting Station Commander Colonel Neale Moss to discuss life and issues on the Station and will then make a tour. There will be an opportunity to visit the Welfare Centre to see the support services for dependants of servicemen and servicewomen on base.

David Ruffley MP will be unveiling a memorial on the Mildenhall Road Estate on Friday 24 February at 9.15am.

David Ruffley MP said: ' It is real privilege to unveil this sign which commemorates the contribution that Arthur Smith made to his part of Bury St Edmunds.

He was a man of substance- a Second World War veteran, public servant in the Post Office and, throughout his life, a mainstay of the Mildenhall Road Estate, a place for which he did so much.

David Ruffley MP is concerned about the increasing difficulties of caring for patients with dementia within Suffolk Primary Care Trust (Suffolk PCT).

Revealing new figures, David Ruffley said: 'There are 3,235 people suffering from dementia across the Suffolk PCT which is one of the highest rates in the country (Suffolk comes 17th out of 151 PCTs).

David Ruffley MP was the leading backbencher to speak in today's Police Grant debate this afternoon in the Chamber in the House of Commons.

David Ruffley said: 'The police budget increased by a colossal 20% in real terms from 2000 to 2008, and it made the British Police Force the best resourced it has ever been in the history of this country. It is true from these historically high levels of police funding the Coalition Government has been forced to make funding reductions in order to help pay off the huge debt left by the last Government.

David Ruffley MP signed the lead letter in The Daily Telegraph on 8 January 2011 setting out leading MPs' concerns about the dangers of EU attacks on the UK's financial service industry.

'SIR- European Union proposals pose a grave threat to Britain's financial services industry, which employs nearly two million people, accounts for 10 per cent of GDP, and generates over £50 billion in tax receipts annually.

David Ruffley MP will be reading in Christmas services on 18 December at St Peter and St Mary Church, Stowmarket at 6pm, and at St John the Divine, Elmswell on 21 December at 7pm and St Edmundsbury Cathedral on 23 December at 7pm.

David Ruffley MP said:- 'I am delighted to be reading at these services over the forthcoming week. Christmas is such an important time of year and services such as these remind us of the true meaning of Christmas and its significance in our lives.

David Ruffley MP will be discussing planning and meeting representatives from the National Trust and Suffolk Preservation Society alongside Green Councillor Mark Ereira at Ickworth House, Horringer, on Thursday 22 December.

David Ruffley said:- 'I am exceptionally proud to represent one of the most beautiful and historic areas of the country and it is my intention to preserve the landscape for future generations.

David Ruffley has been shocked to discover that vital rural services are being cut by the Post Office in Great Finborough from January.

David Ruffley said: 'I was horrified to learn that the Great Finborough Post Office has suddenly been marked for closure 'temporarily' due to a 'withdrawal of premises'.

Essential services to the village will be cut off, especially for vulnerable people who may find it hard to get to the nearest Post Offices in Stowmarket and Rattlesden.
